Reporting

Turn an observation into a defensible report finding.

Practice clear home-inspection reporting that separates observations, implications, limitations, urgency, and recommendations.

1Observation

What was seen, where it was, and how it was inspected.

2Implication

Why the condition matters to safety or performance.

3Recommendation

What action or further evaluation is appropriate.

4Limitation

What could not be inspected and why.

Example

Observed: The bathroom exhaust fan discharged into the attic. Implication: Moisture can accumulate on attic components. Recommendation: Have a qualified contractor extend the exhaust to an appropriate exterior termination.

Avoid unsupported certainty

Do not predict an exact failure date, diagnose beyond the evidence, guarantee concealed conditions, or rely on a photo without clear written meaning.
